Drake Bay (Bahía Drake) is the gateway to Corcovado and Caño Island, on the northern edge of the Osa Peninsula. Remote, green and quiet, it is one of the wildest places you can stay in Costa Rica.

How to get to Drake Bay
By boat from Sierpe — the classic route. Boats go down the Sierpe River through the mangroves, then along the coast: about 1 hour, usually with a late-morning and an afternoon departure. Leave your car in a guarded parking lot in Sierpe.
By plane: small regional airlines fly from San José to the Drake Bay airstrip in about 50 minutes. There is also a long, rough dirt road via Rincón, but most travellers choose the boat.
